'tis the season -

to be completely freaked out.

i think that it might be in your best interest to check out this website and possibly do a background check on the santa you take your kid to.

12.10.2009

get'em while they are hot.

please keep these warm headbands in mind while shopping for the sister, daughter, friend or wife on your christmas list this year. they are priced low enough to be a great stocking stuffer and have high enough quality to be a gift for under the tree!

*two sales already this week in the shop so you folks better check them out the newest items listed before they fly out the door!

crude but necessary

say no more.

i have

been feeling ambitious and crafty as of recent. good thing cause we had zero holiday decorations for our little basement abode.

so, what happens when you put lindsay ross and kayti oldham together? two obsessive perfectionists who spend four hours creating one measley little snowflake garland out of felt and buttons.

i love it in our house, but i owe lindsay my right leg now.

hey mr oldham,

what do you think about this idea for our christmas tree this year?

genius.

where the whild things are,

meets reality.

i really love this home {at least from what i can tell by just seeing the outside}. i think this would be a fabulous little nest for any lovely couple.
doesnt it remind you - kinda sorta - of the forts that they built in 'where the wild things are'. kinda magical, me thinks.

12.07.2009

new in the shop.

stop by strawberry fields forever today and check out the newly listed items!

*thanks to all of my awesome sister in laws for the fantastic pictures <3

i am ready

for the snow to arrive.

lets be honest it is far past due and the air is certainly cold enough to welcome its arrival. i am anticipating making a snowman in our front yard and walking around in the quite peace of snow at night.

prepping

one thing my man will never understand is the mere fact the presentation of the gift must be just as wonderful, if not better than, the actual gift. the past few wedding showers we have gone to i have had to suck it up and allow the mr. to hand over a handwritten note along with a check - that, however, will not slide this season.

last year i made my own wrapping paper {more on that later} and this year i think i may just take that one step further. check out this tutorial to make your own christmas bows!

count your blessings,

name them one by one.

arrested development streaming on hulu.
husband visiting on a lonely work day.
anticipation of a four day weekend.
new hair cut that turned out exactly how i wanted, thanks to tiff.
my parents, no matter how far away they are.
vegetables in every variety.

belated monday moment.

i have not been the greatest blogger as of recent only because i have been trying to be the best wife, friend and employee as possible. now i have a little time to breathe and want to catch up on those monday moments that i hope will bring me back to reality weekly.

you may or may not know, i am our ward choir director - please refrain from laughing, i know this sounds ridiculous. the past three/four months i have been working on 'come thou fount of every blessing' with the choir and, this past sunday, we were finally able to unveil my wonderful choir members and their fantastic talents, during our ward conference. now, my intention here is in no way to brag, but honestly the choir sounded fabulous. i could not be happier.

after our performance i walked back to my seat not only thrilled that all of the hard work paid off, but immensely overcome with the spirit of music. the first thing that aaron said to me when i sat down was "i had no idea that you got so into it!" {apparently i was failing my arms like a complete manic the whole time}, but aaron is right. i am SO into it. i truly love music with all of my heart. i love listening to it, i love singing it and most of all i love being a part of its production. being the ward choir director has really been a test of my musical abilities, but i have grown close to the members in our ward in the best way i could possibly imagine, through song and music.

music is the common thread in each of us and although some dance to the beat of their own drum, we can all hear the beat. Even those who cannot hear the beat phycially can feel it in their soul and dance right along with the rest of us.

in the words of my favorite elf, "The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear."
*above are the beautiful words to the song that we sung on sunday.

11.17.2009

out with the old -

in with the new . . . me.

i have doing a detox for the past 14 days and although i have not lost the weight that i expected, i feel so dang good. one of my beyond fantastic sister-in-laws suggested this detox after she had done it herself and so i took her advice.

read up on it and i seriously suggest giving it a try. i have never felt hungry while on it and my cravings for bread {my favorite thing in the whole wide world} were curbed after the first week.

have you tried anything that has been a really successful weight loss tool and has made you feel fantastic?

11.09.2009

i am -

so proud of my husband.

he works his trash off 24/7 and all the while still knows how to love me and more importantly knows how to make me happier than i have ever been.

wanna know how he works for YOUR happiness as well - i bet you do. welp check out this new website. register as a user and find out how a real estate agent can help you and more importantly change your life forever ;)

take a chance.

my friend heather, super mom, friend, wife and blogger extraordinaire, agreed to humor me this week and has posted a give-away from my new strawberry fields forever etsy shop!

so why don't you migrate over here and take a chance to be a winner and support my up and coming shop? thanks a million pals <3

11.06.2009

my life is average.

do you ever feel like life get mundane? welp i do.

dean, a fellow co-worker of mine, determined to break this mundane cycle, sent me a link to this site. and the genius just seems to keep flowing.

exhibit a: "Today, my girlfriend recommended that rather than arguing to deal with our disagreements we should just get foam swords and have epic sword fights to determine who's right. She's a keeper."

exhibit b: "A few years ago, I got a call from my grandmothers nursing home at about 3 in the morning. The nurse frantically explained to me that my grandma had taken an older man hostage, requesting chocolate milk for his safe release. You go, grandma."

here is to the mundane!

i know

that i have been posting like crazy about all of these deals that i have been finding . . . but i know at least my dearest lindsay {who shares an undying love of j.crew fashion with me} will really appreciate this little gesture.

*coupon + many more j.crew deals found here

anyone up to hitting the park city outlets this weekend? hit me up.

11.04.2009

im on a kick.

with winter around the corner and all of the new winter lines coming out at our favorite stores i cant help but look. however, since i am a bargain shopper i have been doing my darndest to find new winter fashion at a super stellar price either on sale or through thrifting. thus you can imagine my excitement when i found 6pm.com. what is this you ask?

6pm.com is an overwhelmingly large website filled with bargains for the frugal fashionista in all of us. you may have to sift through this years 'grandma' collection and filter out the 'porn-star' editions {im no hater of either, to each her own}, but i found some pretty rockin deals.

lo and behold. the loot.

mind you, each item listed above is under $70, uh-huh. *click on the shoe to go directly to 6pm.com and purchase in your own size.

11.03.2009

now this is something -

that i could get behind.

i have never been an avid genealogist, but my mother and mother-in-law certainly are. i thoroughly enjoy these pretty and modern family tree charts.

is that not darling? make sure to check out www.mytreeandme.com and order your own family tree for your living room or nursery.

11.02.2009

its official.

halloween is over. christmas music is on.

bring out the bing crosby and n*sync holiday albums that we all know and love. did anyone else listen to these old vinyls with their parents - cause i have never been a huge of barbra streisand, but it just tradition to listen to her album and i have to be honest, i love it!

{dont tell, but i have been listening to christmas music for about a month now. how can you be in a bad mood while listening to 'santa baby'?}

looked who joined us in their ghastly attire.

super host lindsay and myself hosted a halloween dinner this year complete with table decor and fine cuisine.

the candles were lit, the plates were set, the bows were tied and the places were assigned . . . *thanks to emily, we even have these pictures!

the people were dressed and adorned in their most horrifying attire . . .

the food was prepared and consumed with love . . . too bad we didnt get any pictures of the yummy food. note to self: take pictures of every minute no matter how annoying it may come across.

thanks to all how came and to lindsay and rob for opening their home to all of us halloween crazies!

10.30.2009

happy hallows eve!

image flickr

happy hallows eve people.

twas the night before halloween, and all through the house,
every ghost and goblin was itching to haunt me and my spouse.
the cobwebs were hung in the stairwell with care,
in hopes that freddy kruger would soon be there.
the children were sitting straight up in their beds,
awaken from nightmares of vampires in their heads...to be continued. don don don.

10.29.2009

shop it to me.

i'll admit, i love shopping; i love finding a great deal, i love touching all of the fabrics and exploring how patterns and colors looks on me, i love rediscovering old fashion and reinventing old ideas for a super good price. so i hope that you will appreciate that i found these great deals today online and i wanted to share them with you.

from top left clockwise - solid boyfriend cardi for $12.99
- ankle fringe botties for$14.99
- stripe slub wrap for $7.99
- lurex stripe scarf for $9.99

talk about frugal. am i right?

not only do i love

jessica alba, but i adore fall fashion. i have been following 'frugal fashionista' for awhile now and here is one idea that i have ripped off of that site that i would LOVE to recreate from my own closet.
if you havent already you must check out frugal-fashionistas.com. i get all giddy finding high fashion for bargain prices, dont you?

10.27.2009

noted.

let it be known that the first snow in utah valley for 2009 was on October 27th.

uh-huh. bring it on winter.
i am looking forward to taking long silent walks at night with the mr and spending all of saturday sledding with pals. i am actually excited to make a snow man in our front yard and to bundle up with hot cocoa to catch up on movie watching. oh and the winter fashion; scarves, hats and coats, oh my! what do you love about winter?

tag you're it.

i love getting to know people through this blog - so all ya'all are tagged to spread the joy!

Do you have any children together? no, and to continue the ongoing joke, we never will.

disclaimer.

alright, lets face it, no one is perfect.

hence it was not until after setting up my entire etsy shop that i realized that i had spelled "fields", "fEilds". you would think that having a school teacher as a mother the whole 'i before e' thing would have set in. guess not.

with all of that said and me trying to be professional and all - i set up a new shop. i am now listed under 'strawberryfield4ever' and the name of the shop and the designs will remain exactly the same. the one thing that has changed, is that i have reevaluated my prices and they are now lower {i know you bargain hunters will be very pleased}.

dont hate me, i know that this will be a great change. so save THIS as your favorites and check weekly for new additions. winter is coming people, you must be prepared!

10.26.2009

as of late

i have been working on setting up an etsy shop. it is still under construction, but please check out the listings, buy yourself a little treat or just tell me what you think.

spending my nights knitting like a little old lady has actually been quite relaxing ;)

10.23.2009

until we meet again.

monday i will be unveiling a big project that i have been working on for awhile now {get pumped, cause i certainly am}, but until then have a merry weekend.

10.22.2009

when we grow up.

and are millionaires and have the iphones . . . i will be making this. you bet your bottom dollar.

10.21.2009

facelift for fall.

no we are not talking botox - don't get afraid.

i came upon this little idea that i think is just the genius that i needed for our little kitchen. revamp for every holiday, switch it up with holly berries or a string of paper twinkle lights for christmas that is around the corner :)

am i right, or i am right - this is cool.

i am inspired -

not only by sequins and glitter, but by this gal whom i just happen to share a name with. lucky me right?

she holds the magic that can turn the simple and mundane to the unique and mystical. check out her site; today and everyday!

10.19.2009

dear mr.

today is your birthday.

on this day 25 years ago your mother gave birth to the brother that nate told her that he needed. little did nate know, 24 years later, that i would need you as well. that i would need your support to get through each and every work day. that i would need your laugh to balance out my anxiety and stress issues. that i would need your ambition to allow me to look forward to each day that is before me and that i would need your love to make me the person that i have always aspired to be.

thank you for being my best friend and for being the type of friend/brother/son that everyone can count on.

te amo con todo mi corazon.

10.15.2009

we just got word

that the mr. got into the byu advertising program!

below is the sixty second video that he submitted with his admission application.

congrats love - here is to all of your hard work paying off.

10.11.2009

so first,

let's catch up with the past few months.

aaron and i got the chance to visit priest lake, idaho with his family and although the trip marked the official end of summer, start of school and in turn cold weather, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

on the first afternoon in priest lake, joanna took us up to the lower rock slides.

mr mom taking easton on the ride of his life - both look like they are enjoying the father-son bonding.
the next day the weather cooled down and it proved the perfect opportunity to take the 3 hour hike up the wigwams. even at the halfway point i was getting nervous as to how high we were.

i have also become somewhat obsessed with our niece audrey who conked out a few minutes into the hike.

the view from the top was well worth me throwing out my hip and wheezing the whole way up. {old lady much?}

the day after our big hike, joanna's father took us all out on priest lake to explore.

it felt so refreshing to be back among green trees.

we had such a fantastic time chilling out on their dock eating, sitting in the hot tub laughing and shooting bb's from their fantastic deck.

thanks to jo and her fabulous family for a perfect weekend!
