tunes for tuesday

if you know me well, you know that in a past life i was a singer. not like 'mariah carey' style, but a trained, state champion, opera & vocal performance singer. i may have ditched voice lessons & competitions may be in my distant past, but my passion for good music has never left me.

with that said i open up 'tunes for tuesday' to the blogger world & ask you readers for your current favorite bands, songs, records & i will post the links of those 'fan favorites' on the side bar under "hear ye". i have been updating my playlist & have even revived an oldie (black eyed peas - request line) back into my jogging rotation.

i am certain that i am not the only one who, upon hearing a song with a great beat, wants to dance like there is no tomorrow. or when hearing a slow rhythmic & lyrical song feel like the words & tune speak to you directly & you feel as though that song is the soundtrack to your life. or after dragging your feet to the gym you know you can motivate yourself with some heavy metal or hardcore rap. am i the only one?

check out my favorites right now, under the sidebar "hear ye", drop me a line with a few of your favorite tunes & lets share our playlists!

a'muse'd

forgive the title, i really couldnt think of anything better and it really does fit because last monday aaron and i went to see muse in concert.

aaron got off work a little early, we drove through JCW's for burgers and headed to the e center in salt lake. both of us had been anticipating the concert since we heard they were coming, but didnt commit to buying tickets until a few days before so we were very, very elated about our purchase. aaron had seen muse live a few times by himself and i had seen them once on a date with another guy so it was time for us to share the life changing experience {if you have ever seen them live you will know what i mean} together.

it was a really great night. the show was fabulous {duh} and the company was fabulous {double duh}, but all in all i just re-realized how fabulous it is to be married to my very own rock star.

above is one of my all time favorites and classics from muse. i dont know why i allow myself to forget how good they are, but they are all that has been motivating me at the gym recently. so very good.

belated monday moment.

i have not been the greatest blogger as of recent only because i have been trying to be the best wife, friend and employee as possible. now i have a little time to breathe and want to catch up on those monday moments that i hope will bring me back to reality weekly.

you may or may not know, i am our ward choir director - please refrain from laughing, i know this sounds ridiculous. the past three/four months i have been working on 'come thou fount of every blessing' with the choir and, this past sunday, we were finally able to unveil my wonderful choir members and their fantastic talents, during our ward conference. now, my intention here is in no way to brag, but honestly the choir sounded fabulous. i could not be happier.

after our performance i walked back to my seat not only thrilled that all of the hard work paid off, but immensely overcome with the spirit of music. the first thing that aaron said to me when i sat down was "i had no idea that you got so into it!" {apparently i was failing my arms like a complete manic the whole time}, but aaron is right. i am SO into it. i truly love music with all of my heart. i love listening to it, i love singing it and most of all i love being a part of its production. being the ward choir director has really been a test of my musical abilities, but i have grown close to the members in our ward in the best way i could possibly imagine, through song and music.

music is the common thread in each of us and although some dance to the beat of their own drum, we can all hear the beat. Even those who cannot hear the beat phycially can feel it in their soul and dance right along with the rest of us.

in the words of my favorite elf, "The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear."
*above are the beautiful words to the song that we sung on sunday.

its official.

halloween is over. christmas music is on.

bring out the bing crosby and n*sync holiday albums that we all know and love. did anyone else listen to these old vinyls with their parents - cause i have never been a huge of barbra streisand, but it just tradition to listen to her album and i have to be honest, i love it!

{dont tell, but i have been listening to christmas music for about a month now. how can you be in a bad mood while listening to 'santa baby'?}

day trippin'

this weekend we met up with ryan and aly {our bff's that live in the far away land of logan} in salt lake city at the gateway mall. after a lot of walking, some ice cream and quite a few laughs at the clark planetarium we sat down to "trip out" to the light and lazer show to the album 'the wall' byt pink floyd.

we werent as "perpared" as the rest of the audience, but it was a rockin show with rockin company!
